I literally cannot believe that my little baby boy has been mine for 2 whole years. I’m not kidding when I say that sometimes I still think I’m pregnant with him for a moment before I remember. I remember that there is a smart, beautiful, silly little boy named RE Lee (we pronounce it “Arie”:) just down the hall. I never knew it was possible to love something so much that just the thought of holding him and smelling his sweet scent can bring tears of joy to my eyes.

I should preface by saying that I have literally been planning and dreaming about this birthday party since he was about 8 or 9 months old and he got invited to his first birthday party back when we lived in Vegas. Afterwards, I started looking on Pinterest for ideas & came across the Very Hungry Caterpillar. It was over! We couldn’t pull it off for his first birthday, but we sure as heck did this year!
It was so so much fun having all of our sweet friends over in our new home (we had just moved 2 weeks earlier!) and seeing RE play with his little baby BFFs! Of course the most fun was planning and decorating! I ordered the decorations from Amazon, I found the cute little food tags for free on a great blog, and turned his Very Hungry Caterpillar Book into his guest book! We even had Little Artist Parties come do crafts with the little ones!
The cake was kind of a funny story. I had a credit with an awesome baker in town and while I had mentally checked the cake off my list, I never did order it. Oops! Soooo, I ended up special ordering a $10 red velvet cake from Costco just without the cake crumbles they normally sprinkle on top. This gave me a perfect blank slate to work with! My blunder ended up working out great!
While I didn’t include every single thing that little caterpillar ate on Saturday, I hit the hight points and we had a great time! I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do!
